Cite Public Safety Experience and Honest, Direct Approach

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

October 26, 2009

Newton, October 26th – The Setti Warren campaign announced today that both Police Unions – the Newton Police Superior Officers Association, representing 37 Supervisors and the Newton Police Association, representing 104 Patrolman – had endorsed Setti for mayor. In endorsing Setti Warren, they join the Newton Firefighters Association in touting Setti’s understanding of Public Safety. The unions both pointed to Setti’s experience with emergency responses, emergency preparedness, his ability to deal with crisis situations, his leadership as a manager and his public safety/emergency management credentials as factors making him the right choice for mayor.

“Setti’s experience at FEMA and his military background convinced us that he understands the issues that are important to the hard working men and women of the Newton Police Department,” said Jay Babcock, President of the Newton Police Association. “But beyond his public safety knowledge, we were impressed with his direct and candid approach. We know this city is facing significant challenges and must make tough choices. We are confident that Setti will work openly with us to discuss the best solutions for Newton.”

“I am so pleased to have the Newton Police Superior Officers Association's and the Newton Police Association's endorsement," Warren commented. "These men and women put their lives on the line every day, protecting all of us. Their bravery and professionalism is well known and deeply appreciated. I feel honored to have them by my side.”
