Endorses Setti Warren
Cites Strong Leadership and Fresh Perspective
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
October 1, 2009
Dan Fahey, who has been instrumental in pushing for change and good government in Newton, has now endorsed Setti Warren. Mr. Fahey, who co-chaired the fight to defeat last year’s override, joins other community activists who led the effort to pass the override, in agreeing that only Setti Warren brings a fresh perspective to the challenges facing Newton and has the bold, proven leadership skills to move the city forward.
“I see our city’s problems to be deep enough as to require more than just incremental improvement,” said Fahey. “I am convinced that Setti Warren fully grasps the problems we face and possesses the leadership qualities and vision to execute the significant, and sometimes unpopular, course corrections we must make.”
Mr. Fahey is a retired financial services executive who recently became very active in Newton civic affairs. After successfully defeating the override, Mr. Fahey co-founded the group Newton 20/20 whose mission is to encourage the City’s leadership to seek out best practices, get on a sustainable fiscal track and introduce solid measurement systems for all City functions.
“I am honored to have Dan’s support,” Warren said. “He and I share a commitment to the importance of getting Newton’s fiscal house in order and using creative, innovative solutions to ensure accountability and transparency in government.”
