Calls Candidate’s Leadership Experience Impressive
Newton, August 28th – Capping off a week of local endorsements, long time Ward 7 Alderman at Large and former school committee member, Sydra Schnipper announced her support for Setti Warren. Schnipper, who has served on the Board since 1993 has earned a reputation, in that time, for her knowledge of public works and her commitment to making Newton both cleaner and greener. Ms. Schnipper, a retired mathematics teacher, currently chairs the Public Facilities Committee and the Solid Waste Commission which is responsible for the new trash and single stream recycling program saving the city $1,000,000 per year. In addition to her work and her service on the Board, Ms. Schnipper is an active member of the League of Women Voters and a former Trustee of the New Philharmonia Orchestra.
“Setti has the management acumen and leadership skills required to manage this City," said Schnipper. “He brings a fresh perspective and the ability to work with diverse groups. I know that many of us on the Board, with deep knowledge of the City and how it works, look forward to the strong partnership we will have with Setti Warren.”
