Conducting Town Hall Meetings
Mayor-elect Warren wants to hear from citizens and answer questions about key issues through a series of town hall meetings across the City. In order to make these productive, the group said we should:
- Have clear outgoing explanations of City priorities and problems from the Mayor
- Ask the Mayor to bring information on the availability of funds for local projects, so the community can help prioritize its needs
- Only hold listening sessions if the input will be put to use
- Focus each meeting on one or two specific issues
- Webcast the meetings
- Inform as many people as possible, asking for participation through robo calls, current Boards, Committees, and Commissions, nonprofits, neighborhood groups, grassroots networks, the City website, newspapers, school newsletters, and social networking sites
- Be clear in their function and try to avoid duplicating the same meeting with same people
- Work with local Aldermen to figure out key issues in the area where the meeting is held
- Ensure that these meetings lead to responses and results out of City Hall
